Donna Patton earned her B.A. in Social Work from George Mason University. For many years, she worked as a benefits program supervisor and manager for financial assistance programs in her community, gaining expertise in human resources and staff management. As a part of this role, she trained and mentored many potential managers.

Donna also served as a child care coordinator for over 20 years. During her role as a coordinator, she was a member of the Virginia League of Social Service Executives Child Care Committee and worked with other community members to establish The Early Childhood Partnership, which has now grown into Smart Beginnings. Although, she is now retired, Donna continues to serve as a member of the Smart Beginnings, Great Prince William Board of Directors.
